Grant Application Guidelines

The SRHS Foundation assists programs that are clearly health-related and fall within the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System service area.

The SRHS Foundation is primarily a hospital foundation and will support projects that are hospital-related and agencies that relieve the hospital. Limited funds are available to community projects that are health-related.

Special consideration will be given to grant applications that enable a program to get started, and shows that it will be self-supporting after the start-up.

Funds are generally not available for endowments, operating expenses of existing programs, and programs not clearly related to health improvement. The Foundation will not make grants to individuals nor will it make loans. Recurring external applications may be difficult to fund.

When awarding grants, the SRHS Foundation does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national or ethnic origin or disability.

Upon receipt of a grant application, the Foundation staff will review the grant and present it to the Foundation Allocations Committee for consideration. The Committee will make recommendations to the full Foundation Board based upon funds available and how the grant proposal fits with the SRHS Foundation grant guidelines.

In some cases, a grant request may be deferred if the Foundation needs additional time to accumulate the necessary resources.

Internal Grant Requests

To facilitate requests within the hospital system, the following procedure has been established: A department seeking financial assistance should prepare a grant request, then receive endorsement from the Department Director and Vice President of that area. Grant applications will then be reviewed by the Foundation and presented to the Business Development Committee or Administrative Staff for prioritization.

Application deadlines will be determined in spring 2009.

Guidelines may change without notice. Please call 864-560-6467 to verify dates.
