Regional Fellows

Regional Fellows is an exciting interactive program that was created to bring community and business leaders together to learn about the complex and ever changing world of healthcare at Spartanburg Regional. The program meets nine consecutive months of the year (September through May) for four hours during which time approximately 20 participants learn about and tour areas of the hospital.

Each month this group of community and business leaders will meet to learn about different areas of the hospital. They will learn about and tour the Gibbs Cancer Center, Heart Center, Regional Hospice Home, Emergency Center, Women’s and Children’s services, Imaging Services, the data center, the surgical center, and the Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Participants will also have an opportunity to observe an autopsy, shadow a doctor/nurse, spend an evening in the Emergency Center and ride along with EMS workers.

Each participant receives HIPAA and privacy training prior to touring any areas or participating in any of the elective programs. They will also receive training on safety, security and infection control.  All of this information will be contained with a four-hour orientation program. Each area of learning is presented by a trained representative from that respective area.

During program tours and electives, the Regional Fellows are always accompanied by a member of the hospital staff, usually in small groups. Each member will be given a hospital name badge with the title of Regional Fellows and his or her name.
