We do it because of the people.

It’s the people, the survivors, that make all the difference. We believe you’re a survivor as soon as you’re diagnosed with cancer. Cancer survivors are why we offer the extras, like a free Cancer Learning Library, art therapy, nutrition counseling and free education events. We’d like to take the time to celebrate the lives of cancer survivors in our community.

Meet just a few of the thousands of cancer survivors we have treated at Gibbs Cancer Center.

I was meant to work with horses. It’s a part of who I am, and I care deeply about them. The physicians and nurses at Gibbs Cancer Center are the same way with their work. These healthcare professionals have worked tirelessly to gain recognition from places like the National Cancer Institute. Their expertise made it the right place for me. I'm Pauline Russell, and I'm a cancer survivor.

Giving back is so important, that’s why I volunteer. Volunteering helps me support important projects in our area. Gibbs Cancer CenterGibbs Cancer Center is a community cancer center, with everything I needed right here in town. It made my cancer experience so much easier, to have the best technology and physicians in my hometown. I'm Kerin Hannah, and I'm a cancer survivor.

I love creating food, and I know that starting with great ingredients is so important. At Gibbs Cancer Center, they have the perfect recipe for cancer care. They had everything I could need: doctors, physical therapists and even a nutritionist. They even had a nurse specialist for my type of cancer. I'm Bill Roach, and I'm a cancer survivor.

I have dedicated much of my life to gardening. I’m so grateful that the physicians at Gibbs Cancer Center have done the same thing with cancer care. The doctors there pour every bit of their hearts and souls into caring for people with cancer. It really is a calling, and it made me feel comfortable with their dedication and confident in their expertise. I'm Hollie Walker, and I'm a cancer survivor.

The perfect pieces add up to a work of art. Quilting lets me gather tiny pieces to create something beautiful. From the smile of a nurse, to the encouraging words from my doctor, the small things during my cancer care made all the difference to me. I still love going to all the classes and activities for cancer survivors. I'm Alma Byrd, and I'm a cancer survivor.
