The Spartanburg Regional Physician Group (SRPG) has adopted a new name to better reflect its continued growth and commitment to patient care, specialty care and urgent care. The new name, Medical Group of the Carolinas (MGC), became official in June.
Leaders said the name change represents a renewed focus on Medical Group of the Carolinas’s efforts to continually strengthen quality and improve access and convenience for patients, as well as preparing for future growth and new patient-care initiatives.
“Our new name is just one of many changes coming for our patients,” Sara Beth Hammond, vice president, said. “From patient-centered care to urgent care, specialty care and more, we’re really trying to make our approach more personal.”
Medical Group of the Carolinas features 235 physicians in 20 specialty areas, and is structured to provide both patients and caregivers the ability to form strong relationships and create medical homes. Medical Group of the Carolinas includes a large number of conveniently-located primary care physician offices, 18 of which have been recognized as Physician Practice Connections-Patient Centered Medical Homes. It also offers five OB/GYN practices at six locations for women’s health, two pediatric practices, as well as experienced specialty providers.
