Safe Kids Spartanburg
Safe Kids Spartanburg, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to preventing unintentional injury, the leading cause of death in children 14 and younger. Safe Kids brings together private, public, state and local organizations, along with ndividual volunteers to keep kids safe in cars, on wheels, in water and at home. Safe Kids Spartanburg distributes child safety equipment and information to raise awareness about injury prevention.
Along with county- and community-based organizations that include firefighters, law enforcement officers, health educators, parents and other community members, Safe Kids Spartanburg works to eliminate the top six preventable causes of death of children age 14 and younger:
- Motor vehicle crashes (including those involving bicycles and pedestrians)
- Drowning
- Fire/burns
- Poisonings/chokings
- Falls
To help educate the public about injury prevention, Safe Kids Spartanburg hosts a variety of community programs, including:
- Bike rodeos
- Car seat checks
- Smoke alarm campaigns
- Distribution of safety equipment and safety information
Safe Kids Spartanburg is a part of Safe Kids USA.
