The Spartanburg Community

Spartanburg is located in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in northwest South Carolina. The city of 45,000-part of a metropolitan area of 250,000-plus-is conveniently situated at the junction of I-26 and I-85, making it easily accessible to both mountain and beach resorts.

The hiking trails and ski slopes of North Carolina, the beaches of eastern South Carolina, the history of Charleston and the cultural life of Atlanta are all within a 2-3 hour drive. Hilton Head Island and Myrtle Beach are four hours away.

Historically a textile town, Spartanburg has become a focus of international business during the past three decades. With industries from Switzerland, Italy, France and Germany making their homes here, Spartanburg boasts more diversified international investment than any other city its size in the United States.

At the college level, Converse College and Wofford College are nationally known private liberal arts schools.

Other colleges include the University of South Carolina/Spartanburg, which offers four-year and advanced degrees; Spartanburg Methodist College for two-year associate degrees; and Spartanburg Technical College which offers one and two-year degrees for allied health careers and industry.

Housing

Spartanburg County has it all. Numerous housing subdivisions, offering a friendly neighborhood setting, can be found throughout the county. New patio-home and condominium developments offer a cozy setting without the hassle of a lot of yard-work.

For those who don't want to live within the confines of the city or of planned subdivisions, there is an abundance of farmland, providing the opportunity for anyone yearning to exercise a "green thumb."  If you prefer luxury or resort housing, homes near a number of fine golf courses or country clubs are perfect spots for those who prefer the amenities associated with resort life.

Spartanburg was chosen by MONEY Magazine as one of "four booming locales where you can find a job and live easy."
