Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System provides healthcare services to a five-county area in the western Carolinas (Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union counties in South Carolina, as well as Polk and Rutherford counties in North Carolina). SRHS has earned a reputation for technological excellence throughout the Southeast, while continuously providing the highest quality of care to patients. SRHS serves an Upstate medical population of more than 300,000 people.
SRHS offers a full spectrum of medical and surgical services with the exceptions of organ transplant surgery and burn care. The system is composed of three hospitals — Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, the Hospital at the Village of Pelham, and Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care in Spartanburg. Also included is the Regional Physician Network, a network of more than 30 physician offices located throughout five counties employing more than 85 physicians; Regional HealthPlus, a network of hospitals and physicians that contract with healthcare payors; Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Foundation; Spartanburg County Emergency Medical Services; and a county-wide non-emergency transportation system.
Serving more than 100,000 patients each year, Spartanburg Regional Medical Center is a 588- bed teaching hospital. Among its departments are the Regional Heart Center, offering 36 intensive care and 64 telemetry beds; the Gibbs Regional Cancer Center, a comprehensive cancer research and treatment center; a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; the Center for Women; and an emergency trauma center equipped to treat any type of injury. Connected to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, the six-story Regional Outpatient Center houses a wide range of state-of-the-art outpatient diagnostic, laboratory and surgical procedures such as same day surgery, mammography, MRI and CT scans.
The Village Health Center offers comprehensive and convenient medical, diagnostic and treatment services in one location near I-85 in Greer, SC. It houses medical practices along with laboratory, vascular, cardiology and imaging services. The Village Hospital is scheduled to open in the fall of 2008. Once completed, the 48-bed hospital will include an emergency room, obstetrics and pediatrics unit, surgical services, and intensive care rooms.
The 108-bed Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care (SHRC) helps people who have suffered disabling medical problems return to independent life after an average inpatient stay of 25 days. The hospital has a Pulmonary Program, Stroke Center and Independence Square, a mini-city within the hospital designed to prepare patients for the obstacles they may encounter upon leaving the hospital. The Regional Surgery Center, which provides outpatient surgery, is a department of SHRC.
