Spartanburg Regional Medical Center offers rehabilitation for patients with neurological deficits during the inpatient stay or as outpatients.
Specialized Programs and Services
Occupational Therapy: Occupational Therapists (OTs) work with patients to improve abilities to use their arms and to develop their maximum level of independence in the areas of daily living skills. Treatment includes, but is not limited to, strengthening exercises, coordination activities, training in daily living activities such as feeding, bathing, dressing, etc., and visual and perceptual retraining.
Physical Therapy: Physical therapists (PTs) work with patients to improve the potential to use their legs and develop their maximum ability to move in their environment. Treatment includes, but is not limited to, strengthening exercises, balance activities, training in walking skills and/or maneuvering a wheelchair.
Speech-language Pathology (Speech therapy): Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work with patients to improve abilities to communicate and to swallow. Treatment includes, but is not limited to, training in speech skills, training in cognitive skills, strengthening exercises for swallowing and speaking, and re-training in swallowing abilities.
