Oncology Rehabilitation
Spartanburg Regional Medical Center offers a comprehensive program for patients who have experienced the diagnosis of cancer. One area of this service is oncology rehabilitation. This area of rehabilitation is for patients who are dealing with lymphedema, fatigue or loss of functional skills following cancer. The program is staffed by specially trained therapists who are nationally certified to provide the best care for each patient.
Specialized Programs and Services
Occupational and Physical Therapy: Specializes in treatment for patients who have lymphedema (swelling of a limb) after the removal of lymph nodes. They also work with patients to increase motion in joints, increase strength and improve endurance for daily tasks.
Speech-language Pathology: Specializes in patients who have experienced head and neck cancer. Treatment focuses on strengthening, retraining in voice, swallowing skills and communication before and after a laryngectomy.
After receiving a physician’s order, the appropriate therapist will evaluate to determine the areas of deficit and develop a treatment for the patient to meet goals for improvement.
Oncology Rehabilitation is located on the second floor of the Gibbs Cancer Center.
