American Academy of Sleep Medicine

Sleep Services at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS) is one of the most experienced sleep facilities in the country and is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is the leader in setting standards and promoting excellence in sleep medicine health care, education and research.

SRHS has been involved in diagnosing sleep disorders since sleep medicine developed as a medical specialty. The first sleep study conducted in the United States was in 1981, and the first study at SRHS was performed in 1985. SRHS’s Sleep Center is one of the oldest sleep centers in the southeast and provides sleep services at North Grove Medical Park in Spartanburg and Spartanburg Medical Center.

SRHS provides specialized care to diagnose and treat more than 80 types of sleep disorders. Common sleep disorders treated at SRHS are sleep apnea, insomnia or sleep-movement disorders, such as restless leg syndrome

In 2014, the SRHS outpatient sleep lab, located at North Grove Medical Park, received the HealthStream Award of Excellence for Outpatient-Sleep Lab.

The HealthStream Award of Excellence acknowledges exceptional performances achieved by healthcare organizations. The awards spotlight innovative programs and superior leadership along with workforce development, patient satisfaction, employee engagement and positive feedback from the community.

To qualify for an award with HealthStream, a hospital must have been a patient satisfaction client of HealthStream in 2013, scored in the 75 percentile or higher and surveyed a minimum of 100 patients.
