PICU: For Older Children Who Need Intensive Medical Care

Older Children

For children who need specialized medical attention because of accident or illness, we provide an especially high level of care and treatment: the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, or PICU, at Spartanburg Medical Center. In this specialized facility and advanced equipment, our children’s specialists and sub-specialists provide care for children up to age 17.

In addition to providing all the resources of a medical center, our staff also focuses on making the child and family comfortable. The unit includes a child-friendly atmosphere and “under the sea” theme. The rooms are bright, colorful and spacious, and each includes a DVD player. Parents can enjoy a special break room, kitchen and shower—so they can spend more time with their child and less time away from the hospital.
