Benefit fundraiser takes off 6 p.m. on Oct. 2 at Spartanburg Downtown Airport

Get ready for some high-flying fun during the 2014 Hangar B Ball. Hosted by the Spartanburg Regional Foundation, this much-anticipated event takes off on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 6-10 p.m. at the Spartanburg Downtown Airport.  All proceeds benefit the Foundation’s Heart Division, which supports outreach, education and screenings to promote healthy lifestyles and fight heart disease in our community.

Returning to entertain the crowd – expected to be at least 1,000 strong – is Party on the Moon, a group whose top-caliber talent has backed stars ranging from Beyoncé to Elton John to Earth Wind & Fire. Early-bird tickets are $60 and include drinks, dinner and a T-shirt; price increases to $75 after Sept. 19. Dress is casual.

“The Foundation is once again proud to host Hangar B, featuring high-energy band Party on the Moon, great dancing, food and fun – all for a very special cause,” said Kristy Caradori, executive director of Spartanburg Regional Foundation. “Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in South Carolina. Proceeds from Hangar B allow us to increase patient education and care services for heart patients who need it most.”

Last year’s event raised more than $72,000 in support of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System’s heart services.

“While the obvious beneficiaries of the Hangar B Ball are the Joe R. Utley Heart Resource Center and congestive heart programs at Spartanburg Regional, the real benefits accrue to the whole community as we advance awareness that most heart illness is both preventable and treatable,” said Tom Barnet, chairman of the Foundation’s Heart Division. “We are proud partners to the Heart Center, ranked No. 1 in the state by Healthgrades in 2013, and hope that in some small way we may continue to aid in its success.”
