TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly – Weight Loss Support Group)

Mondays in October, 5:30 – 6:15 p.m.

Maintaining a healthy weight after the completion of cancer treatment can be challenging but with the proper tools and support you can achieve your weight loss goals. TOPS is a weight loss support group for cancer survivors and caregivers. For more information on becoming an annual member, call 864-560-7618 or email

Wealth (Walking, Eating and Learning Towards Health – Walking Program)

Mondays and Thursdays in October, 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. and 5:45 – 6:15 p.m.

If you are a cancer survivor looking for a fun way to engage in regular physical activity, we encourage you and your caregiver to join WEALTH. WEALTH participants will be provided with an Omron Pedometer valued at $35 and meet twice weekly for a 30-minute walking session. Mobile Mammography

Spartanburg Regional’s mobile mammography unit performs screening mammograms across Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union counties. Call 864-560-7999 to register, except when noted; bring your insurance card and identification. The mobile mammography unit will be at the following sites:

Paint Our Town Pink

Friday, Oct. 10, 5:30 p.m.

Downtown Spartanburg

Paint Our Town Pink is an annual event in Downtown Spartanburg to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This event includes music, food, vendors and lots of pink! All proceeds benefit the Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health. Visit to learn more.

Uplift Support Group

Tuesday, Oct. 14, 6 – 7p.m.

Regional Outpatient Center fifth floor, Family Medicine Conference Room

This is a free support group for all pre- and post-surgical weight loss patients in the Upstate and is led by a clinical therapist. The goal is to build a strong core support system for patients prior to surgery and promote healthy lifestyle changes and behavior modifications after surgery. Patients also build relationships that help encourage and build their self-esteem for success after surgery. No registration is necessary.

Girls Night Out Powered in Pink

Tuesday, Oct. 14, 6:30 p.m.

Just like the classic Little Black Dress, vibrant health is always in style. Join us for a remarkable affair in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Put on your favorite little black dress, and we’ll show you how good health is your best accessory. WomenHeart Support Group

Wednesday, Oct. 15, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church Spartanburg

WomenHeart is a support group for women to express their feelings with a peer group who understand the emotional toll of a heart disease diagnosis. Led by a Mayo Clinic- trained facilitator, this group meets on the third Wednesday of each month and is open to any woman who has a history of heart disease. Lunch will be provided. Gastric Bypass and Sleeve Gastrectomy Information Session

Wednesday, Oct. 15, 6:30 – 8:30p.m.

Regional Outpatient Center fifth floor, Family Medicine Conference Room

This free class covers detailed information about gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy weight loss surgeries. This class is led by Drs. Ross and Johnson, who combined have performed more than 1,800 surgeries. Register online at or call 864-560-7070 for more information.

The Spartanburg Regional Foundation is coming together to stop breast cancer. The luncheon will include a program of local leaders with meaningful messages of courage, hope and dignity in the midst of the ongoing fight against this prevalent disease. Surviving Stroke Support Group

Monday, Oct. 20, 6 – 7 p.m.

Thomas E. Hannah Family YMCA Community Room

This support group is intended for stroke survivors and their families and is facilitated by two speech language pathologists. Time is spent sharing educational information about stroke and stroke recovery. The group provides an opportunity for attendees to receive emotional and practical support from other stroke survivors. Each meeting includes a 15-20 minute speaker or activity and light snacks are provided. For more information, call 864-560-2132.

Living With & Beyond Cancer: Breast Health Awareness

Thursday, Oct. 30, 6 – 8 p.m.

Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health lobby

Breast cancer survivors are invited to an evening centered on breast health awareness with Steven Corso, M.D. This evening will include refreshments and spa services such as: facials, massages, manicures, bra fittings and information from Pure Romance®.
