Hangar B Promotes Healthy Hearts

Tickets are on sale for Spartanburg Regional Foundation’s 19th Hangar B dance party and barbecue. Set for Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Spartanburg Downtown Airport, the annual fundraising event supports education, screening, and other programs that promote good heart health and boost the wellness of those who suffer from cardiovascular disease.

Internationally acclaimed dance band Party on the Moon will return as the featured entertainment. The group has performed at an inauguration for President Barack Obama and for Donald Trump’s New Year’s Eve parties.

“This is a really great event. Last year, we had more than more than a thousand people attend, and the crowd had a wonderful time,” said Kristy Caradori, executive director of Spartanburg Regional Foundation. “Most of all Hangar B helps to address the problem of heart disease, the leading cause of death in the United States.”

Through the Foundation’s Heart Division, proceeds from Hangar B support the Joe R. Utley Heart Resource Center, located in Spartanburg Medical Center. The resource center provides a wealth of evidence-based educational and prevention services and partners with community organizations to provide free cholesterol screenings.

“Our role at the Heart Resource Center is to educate people about their risk for cardiovascular disease. If they want to come up with a plan to reduce risk, we can help with that,” said Lori Boyd, RN, coordinator of the SRHS Heart Resource Center. “A report of high cholesterol “can be a wake-up call that leads someone onto the path to wellness. This is a true gift to the community, and it would not be possible without the support of Spartanburg Regional Foundation.”

Hangar B also helps to fund the Heart Failure Center at North Grove Medical Park. The outpatient center connects heart patients with a team of experts to help them maintain health and stay out of the hospital.

Hangar B raised more than $70,000 in 2014 to benefit the Foundation’s Heart Division. Tickets provide access to entertainment, dinner and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), as well as a T-shirt commemorating the event.

Sponsorships for the event begin at $1,500 and include tickets, promotion at the event, party favors, VIP parking and special recognition. For more information on Hangar B sponsorship opportunities or tickets for 2015, call Jami Wood at 864-560-6979 or visit
