SRHS Employees Satisfied with the Workplace

Avatar Solutions recognizes SRHS with job satisfaction award

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS) employees often say they love working to contribute to the health and well-being of the community.

“I love the pride I feel when I tell others I work for Spartanburg Regional,” said Page McDowell of the oncology inpatient unit at Gibbs Cancer Center. “This is a pride born of a long tradition of commitment to the most excellent care available, beginning with Spartanburg General and evolving over the years to Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. I love that I can choose to contribute each day, with each interaction, to the long-standing history of excellence that defines SRHS.”

The dedication and pride of SRHS’s workers led to the healthcare system’s designation as Best-in-Class® for Overall Job Satisfaction from Avatar Solutions.  Avatar Solutions, a survey provider, recognizes clients for achieving excellence in their employee survey efforts. The Best-in-Class ®for Overall Job Satisfaction award is given to organizations that score within the top 10 percent of Avatar’s National Database.

“There is a direct correlation between employee satisfaction and patient satisfaction. It’s important for us to take care of our employees so they can do what they do best and take care of our patients. ” said Kathy Sinclair, SRHS Vice President of Human Resources.

The employee satisfaction is measured by the employee engagement survey to measure the engagement level of associates. The survey gives an opportunity for two-way communication and involves associates in the development process by giving them a direct voice to the leadership team.

“Measuring the key drivers of engagement within our organization allows us to assess whether our employees are engaged or disengaged. Engagement surveys at SRHS are crucial because they give employees a venue for open feedback,” said Shane Williams, SRHS Director of Organizational Development. “Being actively involved in the planning process makes employees realize that they have a stake in the organization and that their opinions are valued.”

Avatar compared SRHS’s most recent survey scores with scores from all other clients who administered a survey within the last three years. Best-in-Class awards are given for Employee Engagement and Overall Job Satisfaction.
