Spartanburg Regional Foundation Recognizes Founding Leaders with Lifetime Achievement Awards

Community leaders came together in 1989 as the Blue Ribbon Panel to study the possibility of creating a foundation. Their mission: to stimulate and receive charitable gifts to benefit the hospital and promote the health of the community.

These leaders, along with the Inaugural Board of Trustees, laid the groundwork for the success of Spartanburg Regional Foundation.

“This was a visionary group of people. They took their ideas to the Spartanburg community, and the response was – and continues to be – tremendous,” said Ashley Allen, chair of the Spartanburg Regional Foundation board of trustees. “Today, 25 years later, we are keeping their original mission alive.”

These leaders were honored with the Spartanburg Regional Foundation’s highest honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was awarded on Saturday, March 19, at the Patrons of Hope Society of 1921 Donor Appreciation Gala.

“The work of these individuals has been instrumental in furthering the mission of the healthcare system and the wellness of our community,” said Foundation executive director, Kristy Caradori.

Today, Spartanburg Regional Foundation supports Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and the community in numerous areas including capital campaigns, patient special needs funds, nursing education funds, and a grants program.
