Pelham Medical Center's Visitation Policy
Visiting hours are 6 a.m.-8 p.m. for most patients. Departments such as the Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Department at Pelham Medical Center have special visitor regulations. If you need to be in the Pelham Medical Center outside of these hours, please be aware of our after-hours visitation policy. All doors, except those leading into the Emergency Department, are locked from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. the next morning.
After 8 p.m. visitors are required to enter through the Emergency Department and to sign in at the Security office located in the Emergency Department. Visitor identification badges are issued at this location for all visitors wishing to stay after 8 p.m. One visitor per patient is allowed to stay after visiting hours and must have his or her badge visible.
One family member or care partner is allowed to stay with a patient overnight. A care partner is a family member or close friend chosen by the patient to receive information about the patient’s care.
The care partner will serve as a contact among the patient, the doctors and nurses, and other family and friends. The patient may allow other people to receive information by phone about his or her care. For more information, please reference the document “Care Partner and Password Selection.”
Family members or care partners are included in patient teaching as appropriate. Parents are strongly encouraged to be in constant attendance with a minor patient.
The Intensive Care Unit will allow two visitors per room during visiting times for 20 minutes at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m.
Young children are discouraged from visiting in Intensive Care. Children must be under the direct supervision of a non-patient parent or responsible adult at all times. No person under the age of 12 is permitted to stay after visiting hours are over.
