Congregational Nursing

Imagine a place where vulnerable people can know someone cares about them; where someone who has lost a loved one or is caring for a loved one receives assistance and support; where members would know who to call for a ride, food, medicine assistance, emergency shelter, or a simple answer to a medical question; where a health ministry would get trustworthy medical information and referral messages out; where someone who is sick, shut in or in a crisis would benefit from the care and love of a nurse available to them as a ministry of the church.

The Congregational Nursing Program of the Spartanburg Area is a partnership between Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, local churches and foundations interested in a healthier community. The program provides health-related education, resources, consultation, evaluation and networking for more than 80 faith communities in the Spartanburg area.

Congregational nursing ministries enhance existing ministries of faith communities by increasing care and compassion, gathering volunteers and care teams to contribute to the overall well being of the community.  These ministries enable congregations to encourage healthy lifestyles and preventive care while fostering spiritual growth.

Mission and Vision

The Congregational Nursing Program is a partnership among Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, local faith communities and other health and human service organizations.  Our mission is to develop and nurture congregational nursing and health ministries for Spartanburg County and the surrounding areas.  Our vision reflects our desire to be recognized as a center of excellence for these ministries.  We seek to improve quality of life by providing physical, emotional, and spiritual care to the community we serve.  Our ultimate goal is to improve the health and wellness of the citizens of our community.
