Becker’s Spine Review Recognizes Spartanburg Regional Orthopaedic Surgeon
Medical Group of the Carolinas (MGC) orthopaedic surgeon Sanjitpal “Sonny” Gill, MD, was named one of the top orthopaedic surgeons recommended by healthcare leaders in Becker’s Spine Review in January 2015. MGC is part of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

Gill specializes in orthopaedic and neurosurgical treatment for spine conditions and athletic injuries of the spine, shoulder and knee. Gill also specializes in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery of the neck and back, including athletic injuries of the spine.
Gill served fellowships in Spine Surgery at Emory University Spine Center and in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery at Steadman Clinic in Vail. During his fellowship, he assisted in the care of the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. He has also done additional training in minimally invasive spine surgery with Dr. Chad Prusmack, neurosurgeon for the Denver Broncos. Gill was the Head Team Physician for the U.S. Adaptive Ski Team from 2008 to 2010, and he has provided medical coverage for the United States Pro Cycling championships and the Greenville Drive minor league baseball team.
Gill is involved with the medical care for the Ford Ironman Triathlon World Championships in Kona, Hawaii and the United States Olympic Ski Team.
Gill is actively involved in research and education to improve the care of spine disorders and injuries by utilizing both non-surgical and surgical methods. He is currently an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Engineering at Clemson University where he is researching biologic disc replacement. Dr. Gill is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Gill is a graduate of the Seven-Year Accelerated Combined B.A./M.D. Program at Boston University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine. During his residency, he was awarded The Leonard Marmor Surgical Arthritis Foundation Award for Outstanding Resident.
