New Medical Group of the Carolinas—Family Medicine—Five Forks Opens in Greer
Dr. Kneeland, Dr. Romano and Dr. Smith Accepting New Patients at Five Forks Locations
The Medical Group of the Carolinas (MGC), Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System’s physician group, continues to expand; bringing better access to care in communities throughout the Upstate.
In September, MGC—Family Medicine—Five Forks opened a satellite office in Greer, MGC—Family Medicine—Five Forks—Pelham.
This office, located in the Medical Office Building at Pelham Medical Center, 2755 S. Highway 14, Greer, S.C., 29650, is the new home of Nick Ulmer, MD, and Jan Kneeland, MD. Both Ulmer and Kneeland will see patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Dr. Kneeland is now accepting new patients.
Raymond Romano, DO, joined Christopher Smith, MD, at the original Five Forks location at 219 Batesville Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29681 and both are accepting new patients.
These four physicians combine advanced technology, quality medicine and compassionate care to guide patients through their healthcare journey and maximize their wellness.
Jan Kneeland, MD—Dr. Kneeland received her medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio. She completed her residency in family medicine at Marshall University School of Medicine. In addition to a traditional family medicine residency, she also participated in the international health track where she gained additional training in international and travel medicine. She is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Kneeland speaks Spanish, has traveled extensively, and is passionate about medical missions. She practiced obstetrics with family medicine in her first six years in practice and continues to have a special interest in women’s health issues as well as pediatrics.
Raymond V. Romano, DO—Dr. Romano received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He completed his Family Medicine residency at Spartanburg Medical Center. Dr. Romano is board certified in family medicine. His professional interests include preventive care and management of chronic diseases including hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol. He also performs minor skin procedures. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He is also acts as clinical teaching faculty for Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Carolinas.
Christopher Smith, MD—Dr. Smith received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center, where he was chief resident. Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the American Board of Family Medicine. His interests include diabetes, Attention Deficit Disorder, acne, as well as women’s and men’s health issues, including hormone deficiencies. Dr. Smith believes that overall health is affected by many factors including nutrition, exercise and stress management. He is passionate about quality health care delivered in an efficient and evidenced-based manner.
Nick Ulmer, MD— Dr. Ulmer received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina.
He completed his residency in family medicine at Self Regional Healthcare. He has extensive experience in both outpatient and inpatient care. His practice focuses on chronic disease management and prevention. He loves the broad scope of family medicine but has special interests in adolescent medicine, minor surgery and wellness.
