Pelham Medical Center Recognized for Healthy Commitment

LiveWell Greenville honors PMC with LiveWell at Work Award

Pelham Medical Center (PMC), part of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, has been recognized for promoting health and wellness in the workplace with the LiveWell at Work Award from LiveWell Greenville. PMC is the only organization to be selected for this award as a first-time applicant.

LiveWell Greenville is a group of organizations collaborating to promote a healthy lifestyle for all residents of Greenville County. LiveWell Greenville’s purpose is to promote healthy eating and active living through a variety of community stakeholders.

PMC was recognized because of its ongoing commitment to nutrition and healthy eating. The Dogwood Café at PMC provides healthy options to employees and the visitors on a daily basis. The café uses food grown in the hospital garden that is tended and cared for by employees. PMC also changed the pricing in their vending machines to make healthy choices more accessible and recently opened a .5 mile fitness walking trail for employees and guests.

“By focusing on the wellness of our associates, we can continue to bring our patients top-notch healthcare,” said Tony Kouskolekas, president of Pelham Medical Center. “It is very exciting to be recognized with this positive health initiative.”

In order for businesses to qualify for the LiveWell Award, they must promote health and wellness through comprehensive strategies which motivate employees to make positive decision in the areas of health and wellness.
