Additional Information

Reactive results are repeated before reporting HIV results and also sent to Lab Corp for a MultiSpot.

Specimen Processing Instructions

Serum:  Allow to clot.  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm’s (±100) for a minimum of 10 minutes

Centrifuge within 2 hours of collection.

Refrigerated

Specimen Stability

Room temperature:  8 hours   Refrigerated: 14 days 

Rejection Criteria

•  If not centrifuged within 2 hours of collection.
•  Gross hemolysis

Test Includes

HIV 1&2 Antibody and p24 Antigen.  We report one result, (Nonreactive or Reactive).  Test results do not differentiate between HIV 1 antibody, HIV 2 Antibody or the p24 Antigen.
