Specimen Processing Instructions

Plasma:  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm’s (±100) for a minimum of 10 minutes
Serum:  Allow to clot.  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm’s (±100) for a minimum of 10 minutes
Centrifuge within 2 hours of collection.

Specimen Stability

Refrigerated: 5 days, Room temp: 8 hours 

Rejection Criteria

If not centrifuged within 2 hours of collection, Gross Hemolysis

0 day – 30 days = 12-125 mg/dl, 31 days – 2 months = 29-107, 3 months – 12 months = 21 – 192, 13 months – 4 years = 43 – 163, 5 years – 19 years = 48 – 226, 20 years - Adult = 45 – 249 mg/dl
