Specimen Processing Instructions

Serum:  Allow to clot.  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm’s (±100) for a minimum of 10 minutes
Centrifuge within 2 hours of collection.

Transport Requirements

Refrigerated

Specimen Stability

Refrigerated: 7 days 

Rejection Criteria

•  If not centrifuged within 2 hours of collection. 
•  Gross Hemolysis 
•  Collection in a Lithium Heparinized tube 

Reference Range

·         Normal Range = None Detected

·         Therapeutic Level = 0.5 – 1.50 mmol/L

Critical Value

Greater than 1.5 mmol/L
