PFT – Platelet Function Test; PFA
Sodium Citrate Whole Blood and EDTA Whole Blood
4.5 ml Sodium Citrate 3.2% Blue stopper tube or if the 1.8 ml size sodium Citrate tube is drawn, 2 tubes are needed and one 3.0 ml EDTA Lavender stopper tube (Whole Blood).
DO NOT SEND SAMPLES THRU THE TUBE SYSTEM AFTER COLLECTION
4 ml Whole Blood Min: 2.0 ml
Specimen Processing Instructions
Store Whole Blood at room temperature. Do Not Centrifuge.
Room Temperature Whole Blood: 4 hours
• Clotted Sample • Insufficient volume • Plasma removed
PFA Collagen / Epinephrine = 75 - 184
PFA Collagen / ADP = 44 - 142
If results of the PFA Coll-Epi are greater than the reference range, we will test the sample using the test cartridge PFA Coll-ADP.
The PFA-100 is an instrument and test cartridge system in which the process of platelet adhesion and aggregation following a vascular injury is simulated in vitro.
First and Second shift only, Daily, Monday - Sunday
