SNP Microarray *






Reveal SNP Microarray-Products of Conception/Tissue;SNP Array; CGH; 

Specimen Type

Products of conception (POC)/placental villus biopsy; non-fixed tissue 


Specialized kit from Lab Corp containing a sterile container either Ringer's lactate, Hanks balanced salt solution or transport medium provided by the cytogenetics lab. 

Kits are available in Labor and Delivery or the main laboratory of the hospital.

Collection Instructions

Aseptically obtain a small piece of fetal tissue that does not appear necrotic.  If specimen is POC, placental villi or membranes may be the only fetal derived tissue available and an effort should be made to submit these tissues rather than maternal decidua. 
Kits must be used for collection. Questionnaire and signed consent form must be filled out completely before delivering specimens to the laboratory for transport to lab Corp. 


> 2-4 mm tissue; 10 unstained tissue slides may accompany specimens

Additional Information

Detects chromosomal imbalance that may be associated with fetal loss and is ideal for detection of complete or partial moles. 
Patients that have had multiple miscarriages may be a candidate for this assay. 
This assay does not detect balanced rearrangements, low-level mosaicism or tetraploidy.

Patient Preparation

Patient must sign consent form.

Specimen Processing Instructions

Kit must be used for collection of specimen.  Completed  questionnaire along with signed consent form must accompany specimen to the laboratory.
Lab Corp processors will send to Lab Corp for testing.

Test must be ordered in LIS.

Rejection Criteria

1.Specimens  in isotonic saline or formalin are UNACCEPTABLE. 
2.Necrotic tissue 
4.Frozen specimens 
5.Specimens received in box contaminated with blood or body fluids.
