Call Lab with questions. Heel stick accepted on newborns, if necessary-0.3mL. Collect before 7:30 a.m. No Friday collection after 7 :30  a.m.  No collection on holidays or day before holiday(after 7:30 a.m.) Specimen MUST be in the laboratory by 8:00 am M-F

Plasma specimen; specimen collected in tube other than sodium heparin.

Test Includes

 Detection of subtle chromosome rearrangements. This assay is considered an important component in the diagnosis of microdeletion syndromes. 

Methodology

 Culture of cells w/minimum of 20 cells are counted and 5 cells are analyzed from G-banded preparations.
