Corrected Calcium calculation will be performed on every CMP using the Albumin and Calcium result.  Corrected Calcium can also be ordered as a stand alone test. 
Calculation is (4.0 – Albumin) X (0.8 + Calcium)

Specimen Processing Instructions

 

Plasma:  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm's (+/-100) for a minimum of 10 minutes.

Serum:  Allow to clot.  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm's (+/-100) for a minimum of 10 minutes.

Transport Requirements

 

Refrigerated

Specimen Stability

Room Temperature: 8 hours;  Refrigerated:  5 days 

Rejection Criteria

 

If not centrifuged within 2 hours of collection

Reference Range

 

Albumin = 3.5 - 4.9 g/dl

Calcium - 0 - 16 yrs = 8.5 - 11.5 mg/dl

Calcium - 17 yrs and up = 8.9 - 10.3 mg/dl

Corrected Calcium - same reference range as Calcium
