Americans are living longer than ever before; consequently, the number of our aging population is growing at a rate faster than ever seen in our Nation’s history.
Our infrastructure is not prepared to deal with the medical and mental healthcare needs on the horizon, without change. With this change comes an increasing demand for skilled [geriatric] medical and mental healthcare providers who are prepared to meet the unique needs of this specialized population including our aging family members.
This program will pay attention to mental healthcare and the diverse needs of the aging population.
At the completion of this workshop, the participant will be able to: (in r/t aging population) • Recognize the changing demographics •List at least 4 risk factors facing older adults •Describe the emerging role of mental health providers •Discuss the gaps in your practice in preparing for the aging population•Describe gender-based mental health needs

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
You must attend 90% of each educational session in order to receive CE credit. No partial credit will be awarded.
INSTRUCTIONS to complete the on-line program evaluation and to obtain the CE certificate will be distributed at the conclusion of the program.
Social Workers Each program has been approved for 6.0 (trained) hours of continuing education by SRHS Corporate Education under its accreditation by the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners.
Counselors Each program has been approved for 6.0 hours of continuing education by SRHS Corporate Education under its accreditation by the state of South Carolina Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors, Marital and Family Therapists, and Psycho Educational Specialists.
Long Term Care Administrators Has been applied for.
Others Each program provides 6.0 hours of continuing education.
