Collection Instructions

If performed to determine a fetal-maternal abruption, there are no special collection instructions. 

If performed to quantitate the necessary number of Rh Immune Globulin vials required for post partum prophylaxis, the patient must be Rh negative and testing must be performed on a Post Partum maternal specimen.

Max:  6.0 ml EDTA whole blood 

Min:  0.5 ml EDTA whole blood

Additional Information

Due to the fact that this procedure includes manual staining with two separate air drying steps, this procedure will take over an hour to complete.
