Dr. Montgomery received his medical degree from University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, SC. He completed his residency at Baton Rouge General Family Medicine Residency in Baton Rouge, LA. Dr. Montgomery also completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Charlton Methodist Family and Sports Medicine Residency at Dallas, TX. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, American Medical Association, and American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Montgomery is board certified in family medicine with added qualification in sports medicine. He is also a certified athletic trainer. Dr. Montgomery is a faculty member of the family medicine residency program at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

Dr. Montgomery’s care philosophy: “I believe that the patient is the center of the visit. All decisions should be made with the advice and consideration of the patient. I focus on the prevention of conditions, which is much more effective than waiting on a condition to develop.”
Why did Dr. Montgomery decide to pursue a career in medicine? “I originally wanted to be a dentist, but changed during high school to medicine due to an influential sports medicine mentor. I have always wanted to help people and find the science of medicine intellectually stimulating.”
Dr. Montgomery's hobbies: Computers and running.
