Specimen Processing Instructions

Plasma:  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm’s (±100) for a minimum of 10 minutes

Serum:  Allow to clot.  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm’s (±100) for a minimum of 10 minutes

Centrifuge within 2 hours of collection.

Transport Requirements

Refrigerated

Specimen Stability

Room temperature:  8 hours   Refrigerated: 5 days 

Rejection Criteria

•  If not centrifuged within 2 hours of collection. 
•  Gross hemolysis

Reference Range

See Individual test except:

·         Globulin is a calculation of the Total Protein result minus the Albumin result and the Reference range = 2.0 – 3.7 g/dl.

·         Albumin / Globulin Ratio = 0.9 – 2.4

Critical Value

Total Bilirubin for a Neonate = >12.0 mg/dl
