Collection Instructions

Centrifuge within 30 minutes of collection.  Do not remove stopper, test must be performed on an unopened tube.

Specimen Processing Instructions

Plasma:  Centrifuge at 3380 rpm’s (±100) for a minimum of 10 minutes within 30 minutes of collection.
Do not remove stopper, test must be performed on an unopened tube.  (If plasma is not removed and refrigerated or frozen, see sample stability below.)

Transport Requirements

On Ice, deliver STAT to Specimen Processing

Specimen Stability

Test should be performed within 30 minutes after collection.  Plasma removed from the cells stable for 3 hours at 2-8 degrees Celcius or 24 hours for frozen plasma at -20 degrees Celcius. 

Rejection Criteria

•Specimen not received in the lab within 30 minutes after
  collection.
•Grossly hemolyzed samples are rejected.
•Specimen tube that has been opened or aliquoted if not refrigerated or frozen.
