As director of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship program at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, I am pleased that you are interested in this specialty and our training program. Our fellowship is part of a medium-sized but progressively growing healthcare system in beautiful Upstate South Carolina. We are a small program (one fellow), but as the first accredited hospice and palliative medicine fellowship in the state starting in 2014, we have considerable experience in post-residency training in this field. We have continuously modified our program, shaped largely by feedback from our fellows. Our faculty, made up of physicians and other members of the team, love to teach and are committed to making this the best possible training experience for our fellows.

The intent of these pages is to provide you with enough information about our program, faculty, institution and area to decide if we might be a good fit for you. We consider ourselves the “little program that could,” and hope you will see us in the same way.

In any case, we wish you the best as you make the important decision about where to pursue your advanced training in hospice and palliative medicine, and hope that you will find an opportunity that is right for you.
