Transitional Year Residency: Interview Process
What to Expect on Your Interview
The interview process here at Spartanburg is intended to be relaxed and low-pressure. We look forward to being able to spend some time getting to know you and giving you an opportunity to see what life as a TY resident in Spartanburg is like.
We hope that you will be able to join our residents for dinner the night before your interview. This seems to be where applicants can get a lot of questions about the program answered in a relaxed setting at one of Spartanburg’s best restaurants.
Our typical interview day begins with an informal breakfast, followed by attendance of our daily Morning Report session of our Internal Medicine Service. Following such, Dr. Davis gives a brief presentation and overview of the program, after which you will spend the remainder of the morning interviewing with both Dr. Davis and one additional faculty member for 20-30 minutes each. Our residents and staff take you on a tour of the hospital campus, and are there to answer additional questions you may have throughout the morning. Refreshments are ever-present, and we conclude the day with lunch. Most often our interview day is over by 12:30 to 1 PM.
