About
About
People often experience weakness in the pelvic floor muscles due to age, illness, surgery, childbirth and other conditions. Issues in the pelvic floor -- incontinence, constipation, urinary frequency or urgency and pain to name a few -- are a common condition. However, many people delay reporting such intimate conditions to their doctor.
Pelvic floor therapy can help both men and women strengthen muscles, increase stability and promote proper function of the pelvic organs. Occupational therapist, Kim Mielke, with Spartanburg Regional's Pelvic Health Program, will explain the pelvic floor anatomy, address some common issues and share ways therapy works.
