Biography
After graduating with honors from Vanderbilt University, Dr. Orr received his medical degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. where he completed his surgical residency at the USF affiliated hospitals. Dr. Orr completed a two-year surgical oncology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA (with an emphasis on breast and head and neck surgery). Currently, he is a professor at the Medical University of South Carolina and former Chair of Surgery at VCOM. With over 35 years of cancer surgery experience, Dr. Orr specializes in breast cancer, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal surgery, melanoma and other skin cancers. Within the Gibbs Cancer Center and Research Institute, Dr. Orr is the chair of the cutaneous oncology and sarcoma group; assistant chair of the endocrine oncology group; and a founding member of breast oncology group. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, and the American Society of Breast Surgery, and a past president of the Spartanburg District Medical Society. Dr. Orr is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He has published nearly 40 articles in the medical literature.
