Dr. George believes in the need to establish strong relationships with patients.

“There has to be a mutual trust and a feeling of connection,” he said. "Patients aren’t just a disease or condition to treat. I care for their health, but I care about them.”

Dr. Ben Friday learned the importance of communicating clearly and assertively while working as a flight surgeon for the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division. He found this skill translated well when he began practicing medicine. 

Patients can talk to their family medicine doctors about anything.

"It's hard to talk depression with your cardiologist, for example,” Dr. Friday said. "I can take care of the whole person."

Dr. Friday specializes in family medicine because he likes the variety that comes with it.

"To me, it's the front lines," he said. “I want to be the doctor that you see first."

Dr. Peter Donnan was raised to serve others.

"Our parents said service was important, but they lived it, too," he said.

Dr. Donnan’s life of service continues, built on the foundation his parents laid at an early age – caring for others, earning their trust and giving them the best treatment possible.

"My job is to be compassionate and to give them the best advice I can," Dr. Donnan said.

A core component of that philosophy – civility.

"If you just listen to somebody and treat them nice, that will go a long way," Dr. Donnan said.
