Pain Management & Rehabilitation Rotation

Duration: 4 week rotation
Course Offered: Throughout the year

During this rotation, student will be exposed and learn about the following topics:

• Different Spinal disorders and other painful disorders and their non- surgical treatment options including:
  • Physical therapy and Modalities
  • Injections (Trigger points / Epidural/ Facet joint/ Nerve root blocks/ Sacroiliac joint/ Etc.)
  • Pain medication including Narcotics and adjuvant medications
• Indication, contraindication, technique and the difference between the different spinal injections
• Indication, contraindication and technique of different joint injections, Trigger point injections and peripheral nerve blocks
• Difference between long acting and short acting narcotics, indication and contraindication of use
• Indication and technique of nerve conduction studies and Needle Electromyography
