DO NOT SEND SPECIMENS THROUGH THE TUBE SYSTEM.

Greiner 2.0 ml Blue Top tube 3.2% Sodium Citrate drawn to the line on the tube.  EDTA lavender stopper tube: 2 ml whole blood Min: 1.0 ml 

Additional Information

Test Limitations - Patients with inherited platelet disorders such as von Willebrand Factor deficiency, Glanzmann Thrombasthenia have not been studied with the Verify Now PRU test.  Patients who have been treated with Glycoprotein llb/lla inhibitor drugs should not be tested until platelet function has recovered.

Room Temperature:  Whole Blood for both the Greiner Sodium Citrate tubes and the EDTA lavender tube.

Rejection Criteria

•  Clotted Sample 
•  Insufficient volume 
•  Plasma has been removed. 
•  HCT AND PLATELET MUST BE WITHIN ACCEPTABLE TESTING RANGE.  ACCEPTABLE TESTING RANGE IS HCT = 33 – 52% AND PLATELETS = 119,000 – 502,000. 

Reference Range

Platelet Reaction Unit (PRU) test: 194 – 418

Patient results within this range represent individuals with no evidence of P2Y12 receptor blockade.  Patient results less than 194 indicate P2Y12 receptor blockade.

P2Y12; HCT and Platelet for acceptable testing range for an accurate P2Y12 result. 

Methodology

Verify NOW instrument measures platelet P2Y12 receptor blockade. 

Testing Frequency

Daily, Monday - Sunday
