Additional Information

•  If Plasma is removed, must be stored in Plastic tubes. 
•  Will only be performed if PTT is abnormal.

Specimen Processing Instructions

For Frozen samples, Platelet Poor Plasma is required: Centrifuge at 3380 rpm’s (±100) for 5 minutes. Remove the plasma without disturbing the cellular layer. Centrifuge again at 3380 rpm's (±100) for 5 minutes. Remove the platelet poor plasma to a transfer tube. 

Whole Blood: send the original collection tube

Specimen Stability

Room Temperature Whole blood or Plasma: 4 hours 

Frozen Plasma (PPP) : 14 days (-20 degrees) 

 

Rejection Criteria

•  Clotted Sample 
•  Insufficient volume

PTT Mixing study and are reviewed by the Pathologist before reporting.
