About

Medical oncology is a specialty that treats cancer using chemotherapy or other medicines, such as targeted therapy.

Chemotherapy is a therapy that uses drugs to interfere with the cancer cells’ ability to reproduce. Targeted therapy uses specific medicines that target your particular type of cancer. You may receive chemotherapy/targeted therapy alone or in combination with surgery or radiation therapy.
