Collection Instructions

Discard tube recommended, send specimen directly to transfusion – cannot be centrifuged.

Additional Information

Specimen musts be tested within 2 hours of collection and cannot be centrifuged prior to analysis.  Notify blood bank at 67655 prior to collection of Rapid TEG specimens to allow for reagent preparation ahead of testing. 

Patient Preparation

Baseline specimen must be obtained prior to any surgical incisions. 
Rewarming specimen = 34-35oC esophageal temperature at specimen collection. 

Specimen Processing Instructions

Deliver all specimens ASAP directly to transfusion.

Improper patient identification, under or overfilled blue tubes, centrifuged blue tubes, specimen greater than 2 hours from collection.

Rate= 5-10 min; Kinetics = 1-3 min; Alpha Angle=53-72; Max. Amplitude=50-70
