Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Hospice Home

About
About
Patients and their families want their final days together to be as calm and peaceful as possible.
The Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Hospice Home is a comforting, serene and homelike setting where patients can receive professional medical care and comfort at the end of life.
While hospice patients can also receive care in their own homes, sometimes home care is not possible. Some patients need more treatment for their pain and physical symptoms than can be provided at home. Other patients need care while their primary caregiver takes some time to physically and emotionally re-energize.
Some patients also prefer not to pass away at home for personal reasons; such as, if young children are living in their home. Whatever the reason, patients who cannot be cared for at home may come to the hospice home for expert end-of-life care in a warm and compassionate environment.
The hospice home, which opened in 2006, offers terminally ill patients a comfortable, family-friendly alternative to the hospital or their own home. Trained hospice professionals, including a physician, registered nurses, nursing assistants, chaplains, social workers and volunteers, are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Each of the patient rooms at the Hospice Home is spacious and private, with large windows and private patios that create a sense of connectedness with the carefully planned natural landscape that surrounds the house.
For times when prayer, meditation and reflection are needed, a chapel is available for patients, their families and friends.
The family room, filled with comfortable furniture and featuring an inviting gas fireplace, offers patients and their families a place to enjoy spending time with one another and sharing memories that become so important in the final days. Children are welcome in the house, with games and toys in a play area designed especially for them.
Insurance
Insurance
Comprehensive hospice care coverage is provided by Medicare and Medicaid. Many private insurance companies also offer a similar benefit. Our team will assist you in determining eligibility under your current insurance provider.
As a non-profit organization, we provide services to all eligible persons regardless of their ability to pay. Our Hospice Special Needs Fund – established by the Spartanburg Regional Foundation – raises money that directly benefits patients, families and the local community. These funds may help pay for medications, food, medical supplies and other costs not covered by insurance.
