Why Spartanburg Regional? I grew up in the city of Spartanburg, so I was already very familiar with the hospital. As a student, I was especially drawn to the wide range of rotations they offered, many of which aligned with my interests. During my P4 year, I was fortunate to complete a couple of rotations here as well. Throughout that time, I witnessed firsthand not only the clinical expertise of the preceptors and staff but also the supportive and welcoming work environment they created. It was clear that they genuinely cared about the growth and success of both residents and students, and I knew it was the kind of environment where I could continue to learn and thrive as a resident.
Kevin Harper, PharmD
Pharmacy School: Nova Southeastern University
Hometown: Fort Mill, SC
Professional Interests: Emergency Medicine and Critical Care
Hobbies: Hiking, fishing, playing with my German Shepherd, watching sports
Why Spartanburg Regional? I had the pleasure of meeting everyone during Midyear, and the positive energy was very apparent. This energy continued during my interview a few months later, when everyone made it feel like a home. The preceptors and rotations provided by the program will allow me to develop into a professional fit to make interventions and optimize care for patients.

Hometown: Statesville, NC
Professional Interests: Emergency Medicine, Critical Care and Pediatrics
Hobbies: Playing with my bernedoodle puppy, gardening, going on walks, antiquing, and trying new restaurants
Why Spartanburg Regional? I chose Spartanburg Regional because, since moving to the Upstate, I’ve loved being part of the community, and the hospital immediately felt like home. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and supported, and it was clear that the pharmacy staff and preceptors genuinely want to see residents succeed. I appreciated how the program not only recognized my strengths but also emphasized how those strengths could be developed and expanded throughout the residency year. I was also drawn to the strong inpatient rotation offerings and the opportunity to care for high-acuity patients, which aligns perfectly with my clinical interests in emergency medicine and critical care. I’m excited to advance my clinical knowledge and skills in a setting that will challenge me, support my growth, and help me build a strong foundation for a career in these fast-paced, dynamic areas of pharmacy.
